Padded Bandages For Lymphedema

Compression bandaging includes a second layer that’s placed over the initial layer of tubular stockinette. This secondary layer will likely consist of a padded bandage made of polyester, cotton, or lightweight foam. The padded bandage helps to cushion limb and bony areas, prevents sharp indentations or skin irritations, and helps evenly distributes the gradient pressure created by the compression bandages (which are the final layers).

Our selection of padded bandages includes:

  • Artiflex padded bandages for lymphedema
  • Cellona padded bandages for lymphedema

Whichever type of padded bandage is used, the goal is to create pressure and break up the areas of concentrated and stagnant protein-heavy lymph fluid, in order to help create a softer skin area.

Can You Wear Padded Bandages All Day

Check with your healthcare provider, but padded bandages for lymphedema can typically be worn throughout the day.

Are Padded Bandages Uncomfortable To Wear

How Should Padded Bandages Be Applied For Lymphedema

For lymphedema, padded bandages should be applied with even tension, starting from the base of the limb and wrapping the bandage toward your body. This technique helps stimulate movement of lymph fluid.

Can Padded Bandages Be Used With Other Compression Garments

Padded bandages are often used with other compression garments, such as compression sleeves or wraps, which provide additional support and pressure.

How Do You Care For Padded Bandages
